Stunning bentwood chair manufactured by Fischel around turn of the century 1900. Fischel was one of the larges producer of bentwood furniture alongside Thonet and J&J Kohn. The backrest in particular is a piece of art in itself with the central, thin bentwood part, almost seems to be growing out of the outer frame that also make up the back legs. An absolute marvel of bentwood furniture making that truly shows the incredible skill of the craftsmen that made this pice. It almost feels like it should be impossible to produce this but somehow they made it work. Rattan is overall in good condition with a few small flaws and it has also sunken down a little bit because of use. The frame has a few cracks but it's still decently sturdy when overall condition is taken under consideration. This is though not a chair for every day use (due to the cracks in the frame) and should more be looked upon as an artwork or a beautiful sculpture then a chair.
