Rare wardrobe from the patient rooms of the Paimio sanatorium that was bulit in 1932. Manufatured by Hounekalo-ja Rekannustyötehdas Oy. Aalto was the architect for the whole building and did also design all the furnitures and fittings to go with it. It is one of his most important buildings. The wardrobe features a curved front door with inside shelves and steel rodd to hold hangers. Original lock with matching key. This model has never been in serial production and and was only produced for the sanatorium. No one knows how many of the wardrobes that are still in existence today. The wardrobe was repainted a long time ago. Most likely when still in use at the sanatorium. Untouched original condition with flaked paint and ware in a few spots on the inside. The front has some scratches and marks but but overall in good order. Would be perfect for a museum or a collector.
