The T-chair, or model 3103, was designed by Arne Jacobsen back in 1957 and was developed in collaboration with the danish doctor and professor Eigill Snorrason in 1957. Snorrason was a bit critical about the earlier bent wood chair that Jacobsen had designed due to the fact that they all lacked good back support when in use. Jacobsen listened to the critic and designed this model which comes both as a dining chair with four legs (model 3103) and also an height adjustable office / desk version (model 3113) on a swivel base as in this case. This very example has the seat made of teak in 1963 and is therefore an early version with the first generation base that is much more elegant than the later ones. The nickname "T-chair" of course comes from the T-shaped backrest. The seat also has an almost octagonal shape. The chair is in a very good untouched vintage condition with light ware consistent with age and use.
